VADC Sandston

Project Description

This Tier 4 data center has redundant, high-temperature chilled water piping systems, chiller rooms, pump rooms, heat exchangers, pipes, valves, controls, and equipment. With over 12 miles of pipe, this system can bi-directional flow and cross-flow between systems to prevent a catastrophic system failure from causing any downtime for the data center. These two chilled water systems served dual coil CRAHs, where either system or coil could serve. In addition, ColonialWebb constructed a concrete cooling tower that stands 80 feet tall, 200 feet long, and 120 feet wide. This cooling tower serves as a means of waterside economization to reduce cooling costs significantly. The ColonialWebb team also installed 66,000 gallons of fuel storage to serve the generators. In addition, an 800,000-gallon water storage tank was installed to provide stored makeup water for the Condenser Water System.
