University of Mary Washington Seacobeck Hall Restart

Project Description

The renovation and addition of Seacobeck Hall was repurposed from its original dining program to house academic programs at the University of Mary Washington’s College of Education and Office of Disability Resources. The renovation transformed the building – which served as a dining hall for 80 years – into a state-of-the-art learning facility.

The facility houses classrooms and lab space with the latest technologies, faculty offices, collaboration, and group work rooms, student organization spaces, a large assembly space, a curriculum lab, and a maker space. A new entry (at what was previously the dining hall loading dock) will give Seacobeck a public face on College Avenue, a new primary accessible entrance, and a sense of identity. In addition, the renovations include a 140-seat music venue that will support live performances and lectures.

ColonialWebb provided the mechanical work that included an air-cooled chiller and air handler system combination.
