This week, our Golden Anniversary Giveback spotlight is on our team in Norfolk, which is working with Edmarc. This organization was built as the first hospice for children in the nation in 1978. Founded by members of Suffolk Presbyterian Church in Suffolk, VA, their purpose is to help seriously ill children stay comfortably at home with their families whenever possible. The services that Edmarc provides aim to ease the trauma of a child’s illness or death and reduce the disabling effects of pediatric illness, loss, and grief on families in Hampton Roads.
On February 4th, the first group from our ColonialWebb Norfolk team began their volunteer work for Edmarc. Their volunteer work this past Friday consisted of:
• Offloading a completely packed trailer and truck full of toys donated from an anonymous donor all the way from Tennessee!
• Swapping out multiple thermostats in the Edmarc building. All but three were swapped out!
• Painting the walls, ceilings, and cabinets in the conference room and dining room. It’s still a work-in-progress, but the team looks forward to finishing it all this Friday!
Below are a few photos of our teammates hard at work:
The Norfolk team got a lot accomplished on Friday and is eager to continue lending a helping hand as the year goes by. The warmth and hospitality that Edmarc provides to the families that need it most are what makes the group so extraordinary. We are grateful to have the privilege here at ColonialWebb to lend a helping hand to this organization.
