ColonialWebb Contractors has been honored as a 2024 Accredited Quality Contractor (AQC) by the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC), a prestigious designation that underscores excellence in the construction industry. The accreditation recognizes ColonialWebb’s exceptional commitment to quality, safety, employee development, and community involvement.
ABC, a national construction industry trade association established in 1950, represents more than 23,000 chapter members and promotes a merit-shop philosophy. The AQC program is designed to identify and celebrate top-performing contractors who adhere to rigorous standards of corporate responsibility and professionalism.
To achieve AQC status, contractors must meet stringent criteria across five key areas:
- Quality: Recognition through industry honors and maintaining effective quality control programs.
- Safety: Exemplary safety records, including Total Recordable Incident Rates (TRIR) below industry averages, robust safety training, and participation in ABC’s STEP safety management system.
- Talent Management: Ongoing craft and management training to develop workforce expertise.
- Corporate Responsibility: Providing highly competitive employee benefits, fostering non-discrimination policies, and ensuring a substance-free workplace.
- Community Relations: Engaging in civic activities and contributing positively to the communities where they operate.
Annual recertification is required to maintain AQC status, ensuring that companies like ColonialWebb continue to uphold these rigorous standards.
“Being recognized as an Accredited Quality Contractor reflects ColonialWebb’s unwavering commitment to delivering high-quality services, cultivating a safe and supportive work environment, and contributing to the betterment of their community,” said Michael D. Bellaman, President and CEO of ABC.
AQC members, including ColonialWebb, advocate for free enterprise principles and believe construction contracts should be awarded based on merit and performance, not labor affiliation. ColonialWebb’s AQC status reinforces its dedication to ethical practices and its employees’ professional growth and prosperity.
