This week, our Golden Anniversary Giveback spotlight is on our team in Charlottesville, which is working with Valley Mission. This private homeless shelter is the longest-running in the Shenandoah Valley, providing shelter, support, and hope to the community’s most vulnerable constituents. The group serves more than 700 individuals each year, striving to promote self-sustainability through pastoral counseling, case management, financial assistance, and onsite enrichment programs, consisting of an afterschool program and onsite mental health counseling. Valley Mission has a history rooted in a love of Christ and a commitment to share that love with others at a time when it might be needed most.
The Charlottesville team is looking forward to volunteering at the shelter, where they will work onsite this February to cook and serve the residents in the dining hall. It goes without saying that the team is enthusiastic about spending some time in the kitchen preparing warm meals for individuals in need. The everyday acts of generosity provided by a charity like Valley Mission make communities stronger!
