The management team at DuPont needed a mechanical team that was organized and large enough to handle performing daily maintenance on over 500 pieces of HVAC equipment including chillers, pumps, and rooftop units, as well as additional pipefitting and electric building maintenance. They also wanted a partner who had the capacity to handle facility alterations and service project capability.
DuPont needed a solutions provider who offered them full-time professional technicians who remained attentive to details and who would integrate themselves into the operations at each location.
Due to the different types of chemicals as well as the critical processes on the campus, DuPont needed a mechanical partner with a history of managing extremely sensitive environments.
For the last ten years, DuPont has employed 10-15 full-time ColonialWebb technicians at the Richmond and Hopewell campus through ColonialWebb’s Facilities Maintenance Solutions program. These experienced and highly trained technicians come to DuPont with prior experience in working in demanding environments.
ColonialWebb also worked with DuPont to ensure that all on-site technicians have gone through extensive, specialized training. This ensures that they understand the requirements and processes involved at each plant.
A Closer Look
Not only has DuPont benefited from working with a full-service mechanical contractor able to handle all mechanical aspects of their buildings, they have reaped the rewards of partnering with one that truly takes the time to develop their technicians. ColonialWebb accomplishes this through a formal apprenticeship program and ongoing training. ColonialWebb’s extensive efforts to ensure every technician understands their responsibility while on-site resulted in DuPont awarding ColonialWebb a safety award for their continual high quality work and attention to multiple safety regulations and codes.
ColonialWebb has successfully integrated facility solutions efficiently and has helped ensure the success at each campus with a single source contact, open communication between them and DuPont management, an attention to detail, and a proactive response to facility maintenance.
